Mission: Our Willow Crest Community equitably supports each child’s unique needs academically and socially with high expectations and differentiated support, in a safe and caring environment. 

Vision: Our Willow Crest Community is committed to every student attaining a year or more progress each year, that involves students and families as active participants in the learning process.

SMARTIE Goal #1:

The percent of all students in Grades 3, 4, and 5 at Willow Crest Elementary School scoring at Levels 1 and 2 on the SBA in ELA will decrease from 35% (25% at level 1 and 10% at level 2) in 2023 to a combined 15% in 2027, with the percent of Multilingual students decreasing from 65% (50% at level 1 and 15% at level 2) in 2023 to a combined 25% in 2027 as measured by the State assessment in ELA.

SMARTIE Goal #2:

The percent of all students in Grades 3, 4, and 5 at Willow Crest Elementary School scoring at Levels 1 and 2 on the SBA in Math will decrease from 40% (24% at level 1 and 16% at level 2) in 2023 to a combined 15% in 2027, with the percent of Multilingual students decreasing from 67% (52% at level 1 and 15% at level 2) in 2023 to a combined 25% in 2027 as measured by the State assessment in Math.

Action Step 1

Teacher Clarity (d = 0.75):  Teachers will provide clarity by engaging students in standards-aligned differentiated instructional practices. (CRTP 4 & 5)

Aug: Differentiated instruction and engagement strategies.

Sep-Nov: Teachers continue the practices listed  above.

Dec-Jan: Differentiated instruction and engagement strategies.

Feb-Apr: Teachers continue the practices listed  above.

May-June: Teachers continue the practices listed  above.

 

Action Step 2

Student Engagement: (d=0.54) All teachers will explicitly embed the Levels of Engagement into their instructional practice. (CRTP 3, 4, 6, & 7). 

Aug: Review the Levels of Engagement.  Introducing LOE Hoo-Rays.

Sep-Nov: Develop lesson plans with LOE explicitly embedded in the lesson design and delivery.

Dec-Jan: Cross grade level collaboration developing and sharing LOE instructional examples.

Feb-Apr: Continue engagement continuum with focus on strategies that move students out of Disrupting, Avoiding and Withdrawing; students reflect on ways to move a level up

May-June: 

 

SMARTIE Goal #3:

Willow Crest's perception of students feeling safe at school will increase from 48% in 2023 to at least 80% in 2026 as measured by the Educational Effectiveness Survey (CEE).

Action Step 1

Self-Control: (d=0.66 ) Self-control relates to the capacity to alter or override dominant or impulsive response tendencies and to regulate behavior, thoughts, and emotions in order to achieve long term goals. Through the teaching of perseverance and problem solving, all staff will work to strengthen students’ self control and social/emotional well-being. (CRTP 6 & 7).

Aug: Review problem solving steps from Second Step to whole staff

Sep- Nov: Review the Second Step problem solving process through “This is How we Do it,”  explicitly teach Emotion Management and restorative practices. 

Dec-Jan: Teachers explicitly teach the recess problem solving expectations during the “This is How We Do it” Reboot

Feb-Apr: Teachers continue the practices listed  above

May-June: Continue with above, and Teachers will review and reflect on what went well and next steps

 

Action Step 2

All staff will continue to implement the Seven Principles of Culturally Responsive Practices.

Aug: Re-Introduction to Seven Principles,

Sep-Nov: Equity Team Meeting and Prep for Equity Walks
